The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod

There are a number of different Lutheran groups in the United States and North America, indeed, throughout the world. The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (LCMS) is a Scriptural, Confessional, and Evangelical group of congregations that has been in existence since 1847.

The LCMS is Scriptural:

our teachings and practices are anchored in the written and revealed Word of God, which we hold to be completely true and without error.

The LCMS is Confessional:

our proclamation and our practice echo the ancient Creeds of the Christian Church and the important writings of the Lutheran Reformers of the 1500s.

The LCMS is Evangelical:

our primary message is always the Good News - that's what the word 'evangelical' means - of salvation by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ, crucified, raised, and ruling in heaven.
